New Staff Handbook

The new staff handbook has recently been updated and is now available to all staff. We are currently in the process of sending out hard copies to all stations and HQ’s, or you can access electronically here….

The handbook provides a summary of opportunities and services available to staff. It aims to encourage and enable staff to lead a healthy lifestyle, to develop your full potential through access to learning and development and to identify support when you need it.

Pro Bono therapy Leon House

Pro Bono therapy Leon House are offering an entirely free service to anyone in the blue light emergency services and their families to assist and support those who have suffered trauma and distress while carrying out their duty through serving the public and keeping us all safe.
All information will remain confidential and they do not report back to the employer except in exceptional circumstances or permission is given to do so.

NWAS Staff App

We are pleased to be able to offer staff the opportunity to download the NWAS staff app. The app has been developed with an external company and aims to give staff an alternative option to access information via the own personal mobile phone which is regularly access via the intranet. Free Suicide Prevention Training – Zero Suicide Alliance There is a free suicide prevention 20 minute online training resource which can be accessed using the following link: The Alliance is ultimately concerned with improving support for people contemplating suicide by raising awareness of and promoting FREE suicide prevention training which is accessible to all.  The aims of this training are to; enable people to identify when someone is presenting with suicidal thoughts/ behaviour, to be able to speak out in a supportive manner, and to empower them to signpost the individual to the correct services or support.

The We need to talk about suicide e-learning resource developed jointly by Health Education England and Public Health England highlights the devastating impact of suicide on individuals, families and communities.The resource has been developed with support from a wide range of external partners including the charitable sector, blue light services, academia, experts in mental health and, importantly, people with lived experience, to ensure that it is fit for purpose.
